Many conditions fit within the broader rehabilitation categories above. Your treatment plan is based on your specific symptoms, limitations, health history, and goals.
THE OAK CITY APPROACH
Care Focused on Building Long-Term Capacity
Treatment should do more than temporarily reduce symptoms. It should help you understand what is limiting you and progressively prepare your body for the activities you want to regain.
One-on-One Evaluation
Every appointment is performed directly with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Objective Testing
We assess movement, strength, endurance, balance, and functional capacity when relevant.
Progressive Rehabilitation
Exercise and activity are advanced according to your response, healing needs, and goals.
Long-Term Independence
The goal is to give you the knowledge and physical capacity to manage confidently beyond therapy.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Choosing the Right Physical Therapy Care
Do I need to know my exact diagnosis before scheduling?
No. Many patients begin physical therapy with a symptom or activity limitation rather than a confirmed diagnosis. Your evaluation helps determine whether physical therapy is appropriate and what may be contributing.
What if my condition is not listed on this page?
The conditions shown are common examples rather than a complete list. Contact the clinic with your diagnosis or symptoms so we can determine whether Oak City Physical Therapy is an appropriate fit.
Can you treat more than one body region?
Yes. Your evaluation may address multiple related areas when they contribute to the same functional problem. The treatment plan is prioritized according to your needs and goals.
Do you treat both recent and long-standing pain?
Yes. Treatment may help with recent injuries, recurring flare-ups, postoperative limitations, and persistent symptoms that have been present for months or years.
Do I need imaging before starting physical therapy?
Many patients can begin with a clinical evaluation. Imaging may be appropriate after significant trauma, suspected fracture, progressive neurological loss, surgical planning, or other concerning findings.
Do you accept insurance?
Oak City Physical Therapy offers insurance-based and self-pay care. Coverage, authorization, referral, and benefit requirements vary by insurance plan.
Do I need a referral?
North Carolina allows direct access to physical therapy, although some insurance plans, postoperative cases, workers’ compensation claims, or medical circumstances may require a referral or authorization.
What happens during the first appointment?
Your first visit includes a detailed history, physical examination, explanation of findings, discussion of goals, and an initial treatment plan when appropriate.
